I’m not sure how other agents seem to take so many vacations and still maintain their business. Maybe I am doing something wrong but I have only had one real vacation in quite a few years and that was actually a working vacation where I attended a NAR conference to get some CE credits. My relatives find it hard to believe that I am really showing houses on July 4th, Memorial Day, Labor Day, and even Thanksgiving! Just trying to step away from managing contracts and negotiations is difficult and I inevitably have to take calls and check email any time I try to get away.
We decided that we had to take the kids on vacation this summer and what better place than Destin, Florida? “The World’s Luckiest Fishing Village” has always held a special place in our hearts, my husband is a native of the area and loves going home. We found a Destin condo rental on the old section of US98, Scenic Gulf Highway. We couldn’t go for the whole week but were able to spend several days relaxing on the beach and enjoying Destin’s relaxed atmosphere and great restaurants. I still couldn’t help but take note of the active Destin real estate market with many homes and Destin condos for sale. There is a very high density of agents in the area, it almost seems that everyone is in the business down there or knows someone who is.
Anyone who enjoys fishing should not miss the opportunity to reel in some big ones. Our son Thor loves fishing so we booked a “party” Destin fishing charter with the Marlers, one of Destin’s oldest fishing families that my husband has used all of his life. We weren’t disappointed and caught quite a few fish which made for a couple of really delicious meals. We saw plenty of dolphins and local wildlife along the way and the kids had the best time ever.
It was hard to return to the hustle-bustle of the Atlanta real estate market but the break was just what I needed to recharge. We have resolved ourselves to taking more vacations and Destin is still at the top of our list.
